Baking Ingredients
If you don't have 1 cup cake flour, substitute 1 cup minus 2 Tbs. all-purpose flour.
If you don't have 1 Tbs. cornstarch (for thickening), substitute 2 Tbs. all-purpose flour.
If you don't have 1 tsp. baking powder, substitute 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar plus 1/4 tsp. baking soda.
If you don't have 1 package dry yeast, substitute 1 cake compressed yeast.
If you don't have 1 cup sugar, substitute 1 cup packed brown sugar or 2 cups sifted powdered sugar.
If you don't have 1/4 cup fine dry breadcrumbs, substitute 3/4 cup soft bread crumbs, or 1/4 cup cracker crumbs, or 1/4 cup cornflake crumbs.
If you don't have 1 cup honey, substitute 1 1/4 cups sugar plus 1/4 cup liquid.
If you don't have 1 cup corn syrup, substitute 1 cup sugar plus 1/4 cup liquid.
If you don't have 1 square (1 oz) unsweetened chocolate, substitute 3 Tbs. unsweetened cocoa powder plus 1 Tbs. shortening or cooking oil.
