Mom's Thanksgiving Rice

Ingredients:

1/3 cup butter
1 1/2 cups white rice
1/3 cup chopped onion
1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp. ground allspice
1 tsp. salt
Black pepper to taste
3 cups chicken broth
1/3 cup white raisins (optional)
1/3 cup slivered almonds

Prep time: 45 minutes
Yield: 8 servings

Melt butter in saucepan; add rice and onion, and sauté until golden. Stir in remaining ingredients, cover and cook over low heat for 25 to 30 minutes, or until rice is tender and all liquid is absorbed. Do not overcook.
